Yes is this true??
i would love a cavelier but it would be on its own for 6 hours in the day..
I would walk it before and after work.
We have a big garden.
Is it a problem that everybody works? -

Hi Mrs Williams
We are the proud owners of a gorgeous black and tan CKC spaniel and I would like to let you know of our experiences with him.
He is now three years old, and make no mistake, this breed of dog is smarter than any other, trust me!
Whenever we need to go away somewhere and we can't take him, we will leave him at a boarding house for pets, because there are times we are gone overnight or a whole weekend (hubby is a doctor so need to travel from time to time for conferences etc)
Just for during the daytime when going shopping or something, he is okay being left on his own. Mind you we get a right royal welcome when we return!!
In truth, this breed of dog is the true essence of the word lapdog. They relish company and can think of nothing more close to heaven than being tucked up close by their owner. That is not to say a puppy should not be left on its own, just that if you are intending to own one and you work during the week, spare a thought for the little champ waiting at home for you. They do get lonely and often loneliness in dogs results in them acting out - being destructive to things you love eg furniture, clothes etc. Not that this breed are at all destructive, but like children, one just never knows!
If anyone is considering owning any kind of dog, think of it in terms of a child. They need constant supervision and attention as little babies, and they need constant and consistent care and attention as they are growing. If you are not able to give them that, then maybe rethink, or reschedule your commitments.
PS there is no greater love than the love of a warm cuddly Cav...
enjoy! -

Erm, how long? More than 7 hours is not recommended, they do better when in a pair. Pairs of dogs can usually be alone for 8 hours a day. Make sure they have lots of treats and toys to play with!
