Nokia 6280 backlight issues etc

I see a lot of talk about not being able to extend the backlight on Nokia phones.

So, I spoke at some length to Nokia yesterday



They said this backlight bug wasn't a bug at all and was due to some EU directive on mobile phone being distracting if they had a light on, but couldn't tell me anything more about it!

This seems odd, because, after some time, she also admitted that it's the thing they get the most calls about!



I mean, this is daft - you're driving along, the radio's on, the dashboard lights are on, you've got your eyes open for bright yellow speed cameras, other cars with lights on are whizzing by, your brain's processing object and hazards...but somehow you're gonna crash because the backlight goes off after 30 seconds instead of 10!?!?



Don't believe it for one moment - there's a bug they seemingly can't fix, and this is a weak cover-up.
