I used to straighten my hair. I ruined it.

The more I straightened, the dryer and 'frizzier' it became. The more dryer and frazzled it became, the more I tried straightening it. I dreaded the rain. I dreaded damp weather of any kind. I spent hours in front of the mirror, straighteners ploughing through my hair. I used a spray with the straighteners and I used conditioner. But putting hot irons through the hair is eventually going to damage it beyond repair. My hair was damaged and brittle. It wouldn't grow, just broke off at the ends.

It looked and felt horrible. So I stopped straightening. I have been going regularly now to an excellent Hairdresser for a year. She has brought my hair back to a great condition and it is growing nicely. It is below shoulder length which is long enough for me. It is wavy and SHINY! I have not completely grown out the damage I inflicted on my hair, but it's getting there. I use good quality hair care products to define waves and curls rather than flatten them as before. I look better, I feel better and am now getting compliments on my hair.

It was my Husband who persuaded me to stop straightening my hair. He said it did NOT look sexy to have dead straight hair and that waves and curls are more feminine. Eventually I gave in.

I am so glad I did. I am no longer a SLAVE to the straighteners.

If you are trying to wean off straighteners, be patient. Don't be tempted to return to them no matter what! Once you are free of them and your hair has recovered its' condition you will feel so much better!
