I think I am right in saying that Beckham regularly covered more ground than any other player on the pitch in various competitions he took part in for both England and his club side.
why did have to boot that Argie in 1998 though!! Unforgiveable.
That was the reason that he was so popular with the Old Trafford faithful, his ability to pick a pass and score a free kick were never in question. But it was his work rate which I admired most about his play, and ultimately this played a large part in our treble winning season.
The Argentina incident was petty at best and didn't warren a sending off. Worked out alright for United in the seasons to follow though when he came up against Simeone for Inter Milan, he played him off the park
Ultimately made him a better footballer as well. The English press were at their ridiculous best after this incident like they always are. We got screwed in that quarter final against Argentina, and it had nothing to do with Beckham being sent off. Campbell scored the winner in the last few minutes of the match which was incorrectly disallowed for a foul that didn't exist. Ref was useless.

Yeah he was stupid to do it can't argue with that. Always the way though isn't it with us in the World Cup. Our players are always more aggressive in the heat of the moment. Aka. Rooney 2006. I do think Simeone should of been faced with the same punishment as Beckham though in all honesty. He shamed himself by how he reacted to it.
It's somewhat of a grey area though. Telling Rooney or Beckham not to play with as much passion and you may as well not bother playing them. We need a manager who can control this aggression in their players and channel it positively. I don't think Sven was that man he was far too laid back for my liking. We need an Alex Ferguson style manager who will drill this into the players.
Even then there is no guarantee. I think English passion is to blame. We always appear more passionate than the other big nations, who appear laid back and arrogant in contrast.
Where is the 2010 World Cup being held? Hopefully somewhere cold, otherwise we've no chance

Well thats our hopes of victory in 2010 dashed! Every time we play in heat our players become so dehydrated that they simply cant play football in the 2nd half.
I remember when United went over to South America to play in the World Club Championships the year we didn't enter the FA Cup. We got hammered I think it was 3-0 against an average Mexican team called Necaxa. Think they were Mexican anyways. I have never and probably will never see a United team play so dreadfully ever again. Gary Neville actually passed out in the second half due to the heat. Absolutely crazy that was. Lets just say we never made the final

It wasn't our decision though the Government put pressure on us to play in this tournament. We wanted to field a 2nd side in the FA Cup or have the matches postponed but the powers that be would not allow it.
It was disappointing to not be in the cup yeah. Especially after watching the lads keel over in South America. We went on to win the league though so it was a successful season
Speaking of pre-qualifying. I will be down at Gigg Lane next year watching a few of those FA Cup Qualifying round matches. Can't wait

We were pretty abysmal in that game at the Riverside last year. It is our worst result in recent history. Isn't often we concede four goals in one game.
On the subject of United and Middlesborough there is a chance of a rematch after the draw for the FA Cup 6th Round. I didn't catch the West Brom game as I was out Saturday night. 2-2 a fair reflection? Reading played well against us but the game would of been dead and buried if it weren't for some great saves from Ronaldo and Larsson and an incorrectly disallowed Solskjaer goal (again
) Could of done without the replay but I'm confident of a result up at the Madjeski. Reading will have to abandon their defensive mentality being the home side and that could lead to a more open game which would suit us.
Saying that though we could prove to be more vulnerable against the "lesser" sides between now and the end of the season as we have got a lot of games which include European games so the second string will more than likely become more of a factor...
...Richardson and Fletcher down the flanks

I know what you mean Wenger loves taking a swipe every time the opportunity to reduce fixtures comes along.
I thought Carlos Quiroz made a good point though about why does the tie not go into extra time when it can do in the replay? It is a bit of a strange one when you think about it. But rules are rules and we failed to punish Reading when we had the chance.
We have been pretty unfortunate in the cup this year drawing all Premiership sides. Hopefully we will get Plymouth in the Final

Fair point, I didn't think of it like that. Your right it would be detrimental towards the smaller clubs.
Looks like its Boro V United in the quarters. You just about managed to scrape yourselves through again last night I see Micky
We didn't exactly fair much better. Absolutely amazing for the first ten minutes then abysmal for the remaining 80, just about managed to hold on at the end. Judging from last nights games it is anyones guess who will win the quarter final. Might depend on if we have any other big games the week the match is played. Saying that though are first team are playing rubbish at the moment as well. Lille, Fulham and Reading we have been rubbish......but won all three. Sign of champions maybe? Hopefully!

God forbid. How much would end up riding on that final if it were to happen? City just aren't allowed to win a major trophy, we wouldn't all be able to sing "31 Years" anymore which would be rather tragic. It would be nice however to deprive them of a trophy having gotten so close
Hopefully Blackburn will sort them out and if not hopefully they will draw Chelsea
I don't think you can look passed United or Chelsea to win it. I would be very suprised if it was won by somebody else.
