Hi to you all,
I know this isn't about any make of car, but I thought some might have an opinion on this subject....
Here's a link from the register and BBC about Road Tolls.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/01...noop_petition/
www.news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/5249538
www.petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax/
this online petition has had over 336,000 people sign against road tolls
Personally I don't think we should be charged per mile as well as paying Road Tax and around 70% tax on petrol.

Road tolls are the governments attempt to reduce congestion not increase revenue ..... nonsense of-course.
Road tolls and motorway charging generally will force traffic onto less safe back roads (Apparently every accident costs around £1,000,000 per person) so there goes any revenue anyway!!
What's required is better traffic control and monitoring. Living in Scotland I've noticed that when roads are upgraded (eg: the A8 upgraded to M8 going into Glasgow) city centre bottlenecks become much worth (typically a 5 mile jam in the morning and evening). Would it not make sense to spend money on active traffic management with controlled access to major roads and enforced speed limits?
I've plenty of opinions on this. And plenty of possible solutions. -

I think what's interesting to consider at this stage is : what would happen if we all decided: global warming, congestion, unsustainable consumerism should be addressed SERIOUSLY. Because we haven't yet.....
Road tolls are a complete nonsense. I was one of those who signed the petition on the pay per mile road charging system for two reasons: 1 - It involves an initial expense and 2 - It is not the way to address a more serious problem.
So lets see the government give tax incentives to work from home. Lets all buy 1 litre or electric/hybrid cars, lets not have cars! The government are constantly trying to price us off the roads but really they can't afford to. Where would their tax revenue come from? So really - tolls, pay per mile and all that revenue gathering tat has nothing to do with the environment or even the congestion problem its just another half-hearted and condascending fiddling with the coffers...while making us feel guilty about making a living.... -
