Vodafone not working in Austria

Hi, Wife and I bought 2 V3i 's in Dec. Went to Austria twice and the phones did not work. phones locked on to the Vodaphone preffered Network ( Moblikom A1 ) . Phones would send and receive texts and receive calls. However when making a call the recipient would answer and then the line would go completely dead ( Disconect.)

Was fogbound in Salzburg and could not call home to tell anyone. In the Hotel Met FIVE other people with the same problem. Borrowed a Tesco phone to call home.

Vodafone says there's no problem with the network !!!!!!.

Has anyone else had the same problem. Thinking of changing networks.
