Why is PS3 rip off

Why is the PS3 sooo expensive? I did want one for Christmas but know i think i am gonna get a wii instead i cant understand why it costs so much!! I wasn't to keen at first but the remote does look really cool and lovin the games!!

It has always been the case hasn't it though really ever since Sony began dominating the console wars. Nintendo lowered their prices as they were not able to compete with Sony's high prices.



Nintendo like to tell people that their machine is aimed at families and younger gamers which would also explain the price of their machines. Would make a bit of a mockery out of their claims if they went and charged a 10 year old £300 for their console.



I wouldn't be surprised though if Nintendo's next machine is slightly dearer than the Wii. As I think the Wii will elevate Nintendo's position in the gaming market closer to the dominant force they once were. Time will tell I suppose. I will be purchasing the PS3 largely due to the Final Fantasy series as they are the only console games I play on a lot these days. Depends of your own taste I suppose which machine you go with.

I think the PS3 is much more expensive than Nintendo Wii because I view it as a complete home entertainment system, it is a High Definition Blu Ray disc player, it can pump out excellent sound quality because it uses Dolby and DTS (Digital Theater System) to enhance it's sound quality, it is also a multimedia machine whereby you can view photos, listen to music from you CD collection and my personal favourite, download movies/live football matches direct from your cable TV or decoder, store it and watch it later; and lots of other stuff like download games and playing it without a disc and etc. etc. Nintendo on the other hand, is just what it is, a family gaming console, nothing more, although I must say that Nintendo has really brought another dimension into gaming world with the Wii stick. That said, this justifies why Sony PlayStation 3's price tag.

The Playstation 3 is over priced because Sony had so much trouble developing it. They wasted a lot of money getting all of the errors and things sorted out, and so now they have to sell it at a high price to regain the money they lost.

Oh yeah, and also because it does everything apart from dance with a silly hat.

they have know customer loyalty
they will take every penny they can
for as long as we let them
if we bocot the price will drop

You all should have waited! It was bound to happen, sony were not going to sell lots of the playstation 3 console at £425 when the 360 is only around £250, so the innevitable price drop happened, you can now get some excellent ps3 deals like a 40gb ps3 with sega rally and spiderman 3 on blu-ray for £299 which puts it in direct competition with the xbox 360 elite at £299 for the console only and beats it hands down, due to the blu-ray player and the fact that the good ps3 games are starting to come out now!

PS3's aren't that expensive anymore, I saw them in Game for £300 with a free game, so that's quite good value. At that price you're paying about £250 - £260 for the console and if you remember, PS2's were around £200 back in the days.
