The problem on my Zafira diesel proved to be 2 things, firstly a fault with a switch behind one of the control pedals clutch or brake and the other was a fault in a cable in the wiring loom connecting the main brain to this pedal - fault cured massive improvement and have traveeled all over europe and fault does not reappear
Thank god I found a decent Vauxhall agent!! -

A couple of times in the last month our ignition appears dead. However when I press the brake, change into reverse, let the brake out, roll back a way, then brake again, the ignition works fine.
Is there an ignition disabler I don't know about and what's the proper release process? -

I have a 54plate Zafira 2.0ldti, last week i had the engine management light on, only when driving on the motorway. I took it to the car sales that i bought it from only to find that the warranty was two weeks out of date. Luckily i buy all my cars from him so he paid out to have a diagnostic check done on the car and i found out it was the egr valve that had gone. The garage that did the check advised against replacing the valve, and for me to just have the engine flushed, egr valve cleaned and oil and oil filter change, Total cost £114, I did this last friday and for two days the car was running lovely, but just three days later, same problem, driving on the motorway, engine management light comes on and the car loses power. Rung the garage as soon as i got home and they told me to bring it back in for another diagnostic check, so back i went and the egr valve was showing as not working. So now i have had to pay out for a new egr valve from FRF Vauxhall in Swansea to the cost of £200, However the car sales has said that he will have it fitted for me tonight for free. -

Bought a Vauxhall Zafira dti on 54 plate one 1 month ago(55k) . parked in my drive for a week. i started this then it just cut out. rac man put it on the computer and diagnosed a few sensors in particular issues around the pressure sensor. car losing power and not going above 3000 revs. spanner light did come on previously then went off so i ignored this. eventually changed the vacuum sensor (117 pounds from vauxhall) all well for 3 weeks then yellow spanner light on again. revs dropped to 3000 and loss of power. this eventually went off and power back to normal. today i got 10k boost and and ran this through the turbo to clear the build up of carbon. one MAJOR thing i noticed was that when the air mass flow meter was placed back i got mixed up with the ends and put this in the wrong way round. INTERESTINGLY i noticed that the yellow spanner light was on and the car would not go above 3000 revs which was the problem i was previously experiencing before. the amf flow meter was turned round and placed correctly and the yellow light went out and revving up to 4-5000 revs quite sweetly. 10k boost managed to get rid of quite a bit of carbon and the car seems to be running fairly well. -

Hi All,
I know these posts were a while ago but I wondered what came of these problems. I have a 53 plate 1.8 Zafira which has currently been in a Network Q garage for 11 days without successful diagnosis being acheived. It too has repeatedly revved on its own and then lost power, always when pulling away from a halt at lights or a junction. The garage has already replaced the ECU claiming that it caused the same problem on another car when they put it on. This has apparently stopped the revving but not solved the power loss (which at first corrected itself after a short time but continued for longer on the second and third times and did not recover at all when the mechanics were driving it to the garage.)
£750 later and 13 hours of attention between two technicians (one of which is supposed to be the group's top engineer) and no solution. I see from the posts that the EGR valve, coil pack or the wire loom could be at fault. Can anyone narrow it down for me, I need to talk to the garage again and I want to make sure that my bill doesn't get any more unneccessarily high.
Thanks in advance for any input
