Zafira running problems

this was me 3 hours ago when zafira 2007 spanner light came on started to loose power this is the third time that it has happened only problem out of warranty called into local garage not vauxhall give me a bottle of forte poured it into quarter tank of diesel drive for 30-40 minutes in third gear and to my surprise it has worked costs 12 pounds light has gone out power back to normal saves a fortune

Hi we have a vauxhall Zafira Elegance 1800 we have an orange light on the dashboard with a spanner going thru a car took it to garage who diagnosed faulty knock sensor had it replaced but orange light still on any ideas how to turn it off? Car drives ok

there is a wee light on the dash in the shape of a rediator, what does it mean ? anyone know

I have a W reg 1.8 16v Zafira, spent a lot of money working on it, anyhow the thing you need to understand with these is a lot of the electric sensors are linked to each other via switch wire, one problem we had was the camshaft sensor wires had got hot and the sheath on the cable and become brittle and fallen of just where the cables go into the sensor. If this sensor is not working then the EGR valve and the throttle body sensor and motor will not work, if you read the wiring diagram there are others and it apperas nobody in garages seems to understand electonics, the old cars it was electrical which most people can understand to a degree, this is by far different as you need to understand values of components to define what reading you will get on your meter. If you go on eaby for £15.90 you can buy a set ELM 327 CAR DIAGNOSTIC FAULT CODE READER SCAN TOOL 1.3A, everything you will need just plug into your laptop and car and you have your own fault code reader and reset machine also carrys out diagnostics, does most makes of cars, so you can say goodbye to the expensive garage charges and do it all yourself. The zafira when running right is a great car but unfortunately vauxhall appear to have built something that even they dont understand.

Hi Guys, i have this same issue with a signum 2.0 dti, random total loss of power and yellow spanner. here's what i have done and its sorted now (touch wood).
1. removed and cleaned EGR valve (carb cleaner and penetrating oil)
2. replaced all vacuum hoses and rubber joining pieces.
3. cleaned intake manifold, throttle body, boost sensor and butterfly valves with carb cleaner and a toothbrush (i gave it back to the missus afterwards!)
4. checked the electronic throttle connections and cleaned with switch cleaner
5. checked the MAF (next to the air filter) and stripped it down cleaned with switch cleaner.
6. checked all vacuum valves and tested they held a vacuum.
7. cried for hours
8. charged the battery (a low batt can cause yellow spanner and put them into limp mode).
9. changed the glow plugs as i had only just brought the car and i consider them a service item.
10. full service inc all filters and fresh oil and coolant.
11. had the first drive without worrying that it would stall at a junction!

DONT TAKE IT TO VX, they will cost you more than the car is worth in diagnostics and replacing every item and valve. just do your research, get your hands dirty and remember vx are cheap,obviously for a good reason!

i have a 02 zafira i have had the same problem loss of power cutting out
when i start car it will run fine for the first mile or so then the power will go it will cut out when i stop but if i leave the car a half hour and start it up again it will run fine all day till the next day then it will start all over again with the same problem i have changed the coil pack the egr valve the spanner and car light never comes on when i have any problems but lights up at the start like it should the sensors on the car don't always show up when the is a fault with them i had a snapped mixture regulation oxygen sensor that sits on top of the catalytic convertor but never showed up on a fault test the problem could even be the fuel pump as it has a pressure regulater switch on the side of the pump in the fuel tank and a mesh filter that can block if theres dirt in the tank not cheep to replace
£178 with the vat has any one tryed the crankshaft sensor as it to can wear with age or the knock sensor john from edinburgh

Hi all, I have a 2006 zafira 2.2 litre and a light has appeared on the dashboard which is a car with i spanner going through it, as soon as it appears when driving i lose all power and it will not go any faster than 20mph, no matter how far you put the accelorator down. The most stressful thing is that literally an hour before this happened it had just passed an MOT. Whats that all about, please could anyone help, does anyone know what could be the problem?

I bought a vauxhall Zafira 2004 in July last year and after one week driving my car show a car with a key on the board and lost the power and cannot accelerate I bring to a Vauxhall dealer more than 3 times and nothing is done each I asked to pay 45 pounds I very desesperate can some one help.

Hi, I have an 02 Zafira and last year the car started to judder at low speeds and then the rev needle would dance around before the car would cut out. After a couple of garages took a look they both decided it was the EGR valve,the same problem that most Zafira's suffer from judging by some of the other messages that have been sent in. One garage quoted £300+ while main dealer quoted £135.I let the main dealer do the work and that fixed the problem until 2 days ago when guess what started happening.I have just been told that there is a kit that does away with EGR and blocks it off.If anybody knows about this, any help and information would be greatly appreciated.
