I am looking to get a digital SLR for home and gig photography.

I am stuck as some of the venues state no flash.

I am willing to pay aprox £800 for body and then lenses on top.

    Any advice would be fantastic.

Hi, most digital cameras will do this if you take portable lights. You can use these lights as band lights and spin them to photograph. A pair of decent lights from lexmark on ebay are about £200. They also do hood defusers with the lights. Pete

    hey,

so am I right in understanding you want to take photos in gigs and things, but without being able to use a flash or any of your own lights etc.

At the moment I do this using my compact Casio EX-P700, I've had it for a while now but you can pick then up on eBay still. It comes with a remote control which is sometimes pretty handy too.

I put it into manual shutter mode, slow the shutter down to as slow as i can get it without any blur (normally hold the cam above my head!) and normally get some decent pics. Shutter normally in the range of 60/1-100/1.

I'm no expert, and dont really know what I'm doing, just know this works for me.

There is some noise on the slower speeds in the dark so I'm looking for a new cam now with better low light/slow shutter pics, I'm not after a SLR though as I need something pocketable. Have seen people thrown out of gigs before due to using SLRs.

Message me if you want me to send any pics samples over,
    Alistair
