    My first digital camera, a Canon Powershot A310 is off to camera heaven and I am looking to purchase a new camera. I have two CompactFlash memory cards that I purchased for a long holiday and would prefer not to have to replace these. However, looking around, I can't seem to find any new compact digital cameras that use the CompactFlash cards.

    I am having flashbacks to the 80's, buying Betamax instead of VHS video players! Have the CompactFlash cards gone out of fashion already? Are there any new compact cameras that use these cards? If not, which is the most recent form of memory card to look for in a new camera purchase?

    I have a Cannon EOS Digital XTI camera. I hit the format button on the camera and now all my photos are gone. Any clue on how to get them back or are they lsot forever?
