How to remove Heater Control?

1995 LSI 2 door coupe, hot cold slider is broken. I think I have to remove the radio? The radio has four counterbores, one in each corner. Somebody suggested that I had to prod in each of these at the same time with (for example) a couple of bent wires. I did that, still couldn't withdraw the radio. Suggestions please?
