Guys we have been bombarded on several sights or threads with "off subject" rants that are sure to give us all a bad name and draw extra attention from the authorities. In the US and in the UK we have freedom of speech. I do not suggest that those who seem to believe the only use for firearms to be deadly force be silenced. If I said that I would fly in the face of my own beliefs. I will usually try once or twice to answer them and point out why their comments are inappropriate here.

I would suggest that after we make an attempt or two to reach them that we simply carry on the original conversation and let them rant. Otherwise we will find ourselves unable to discuss the topics we come here for. This is a Soft Air thread, yet we continually end up in a discussion with someone ranting that we should buy a .44 automag and fend off the multiple invaders that at this very moment are circling our abodes.

For their benefit...I know that this is a dangerous world. I know that it is appropriate to use force at times to defend ourselves and our families. I do not deny that. But...it makes far more sense to do our best to keep our families out of those situations. When they can't be avoided...then these situations need to be handled. I get the idea that at least one of our posters sees himself as a sort of old west gunfighter, holding the line against...well almost everyone. It might surprise him to know that I'm a member of the NRA and believe that we need to take all legal steps to hold on to our rights. I have stated before...the idea of anyone confiscating my personal property gives me chills. I do believe that there are political forces that would move Heaven and Earth to disarm us all, even up to and including airguns. BUT...declaring that you intend to buy a Romanian AK47 is not the way to keep legal rights legal. That kind of statement gives those who claim that gun owners are irresponsible "ammunition" to use against us. He hurts and endangers the very right he cherishes.

In closing, about time right, lets talk about airguns on the airgun thread, soft air here, and so on. If we can't have a calm conversation with any given poster, I suggest we let them rant and carry on the conversation around them.

    Thanks, and good shooting, Mike

Good plan Mike. Sorry I do tend to get annoyed when people aren't thinking about what they're words mean. I will do my best to ignore these posters in the future.

It's cool I don't dare sound like I'm standing in judgement. I tend to get sucked into the off subject stuff myself. It gets very frustrating.

I definitely think that's off subject...therefore, this is not a response.

So start one. I don't have the time at this instant to work out a good beginning question. You could open (if no one else does i plan to in a little while) a question in the lounge. As I said I plan to when I have the time to put a coherent question together.

the thing you should know about me is that i am a lazy son of a gun. so i won't be making a question. if i make a politics thread, I'll say "discuss politics here:"

I'm pretty sure I'll find time to pose one in the next few weeks. if you start a "discuss politics here"...I'll probably put it under that heading.
