Laptop upgrade problem

I have a advent 7082 laptop with mobile amd sempron 2800. i recently got a mobile amd athlon 64 3400 processor as an upgrade, anyway when i boot the laptop first try it booted into windows then BSOD appeared then when i try to boot again the first screen appears, showin the cpu speed, the ram check and the drives etc then it goes off.



I reckon it is due to more heat produced, is there anything i can do to get it working?



the sempron is a 1.6Ghz while the new althon 64 is 2.2Ghz, i would accept underclocking the new one to like 2.0Ghz or somthing, tho never done any clocking stuff before so might be a rediculus idea,
