    Hi,

I'm going to be starting uni in Sept and want to get a laptop. I am doing a design course so will want the computer for more than just typing etc.

I have seen several systems in my budget (£350 ish), some new with Celeron 1.5 processors, some 2nd hand with P3 1.2 processors. All have 256 or 512 ram.

I understand celeron arent as good, is this true?

Can any recomend any cheap websites?

Is it advisable getting a 2nd hand one, or is it likely to die in a year or two?

Any answers/advice will be appreciated !!

    Thanks, Doug

    hiya,

i've just finished my first year at uni and bought an acer laptop before i went which has been brilliant for me - not that i've needed any fancy stuff!!! anyway i bought mine from laptopsdirect and they are one of the cheapest around.

    hope that helps!

Check out the Think4.com site. There are two models under the £400 both of which come with built in Wifi and DVDRW burners. I don't believe you'll find a comparable brand new better specification laptop for less in the UK.
