Hi there,
Did you get the multi-region hack for the LG RH177 as I've just bought one and we'd like to know what it is too?
Thanks

Apparently the following works
Press Setup
Scroll to Lock
Press 0 (7 times)
A message will appear saying it is region free. -

I bought this just a few weeks ago and I'm still discovering it. But I'm a little intrigued with the quality of SP recording. Sometimes the recording seems to be ok; at other times the image gets a little shaky and "pixeled". Does anyone know why?
And is there any advantage in using more expensive dvd discs? Isn't it supposed to be a digital recording?
Thanks

Tony:
plug your freeview box into the 'Decoder' scart socket. then record from AV2
jardim:
SP has a finite bit rate, when the changing picture image requires more data than the SP bit rate can supply you get pixelization. This is true for all modes but XP has a higher bit rate than SP and can cope with more image data.
If you are recording an action movie try using XP mode, or if you are recording Countdown use a lower bit rate (LP or EP)as the image doesn't change much.
This is a general DV thing and is nothing to do with the DVD media or the recorder. Well almost nothing to do with the recorder, it's all about bit rate and processing algorithms.
So, in summary up your bit rate.
I hope this helps you both. -

Thanks for the reply. But I'm still puzzled about this RH177. Does this mean that if I want to record a movie with more than 60 minutes with high quality I must use two DVD discs? I know about DL discs, but it happens that there are many movies with more than 2 hours. This means that I must always use two discs at least? Isn't there any way to install a better codec in the recorder? Can't I install a codec that allows me to retain a good picture quality in a single DVD disc?
Thanks in advance

Hi y'all.
I've tried the 'Setup, Lock and (7x) zero'. I've also tried the 'set to DVD, open, (7x) 0' In neither case was there a message on screen, and the region is still 2.
Any other options that anyone knows? -
