There is no real difference - other than cosmetic and availability of space.
Built in requires more space but I prefer them and you can fit (for example) a microwave, single oven and coffee machine all on top of each other - whereas with a built under - you can only really fit the oven (or one appliance).
First thing you need to do is design the space - then you need to ask yourself if you want your oven below your hob...(not essential).
If you do - then you are looking at a built under appliance. If you have the space and the wall - you can design a nice set of cupboards around your built in appliance - take a look at evershaw.com (under categories) to get some design ideas. -

I have always prefered built-in. Try verdiappliances.co.uk as they seem to specialise in all built-in appliances. -

Hi all, I've had my cooker in now for over a year. It is a built-under one. An AEG by Electrolux.
I am getting on very well with it and I recommend it. Thank you for your replies.
