Ford Escort XR3i 1996 cabrio starting problems

All immobilisors have been removed, car will not intermitiadly start, but will start imedietly after a push or tow then runs perfect until left for a few hours, its winds over okay, but will not start, can hear the fuel pump running and i have checked ht leads with a spark plug and found there to be no spark, have checked and cleaned all wiring plugs but still nothing.

Any suggestions please let me know........
