Good luck with the cycling. My £800 Rockhopper Pro mountain bike was bought on similar rationale. It is now a glorified hanger for my lawn mower flex.... Rolling Eyes

The cost of fuel is another matter. Suffice to say I'm sure some duty could be sliced off if Mr Blair had a coherent policy on immigration and put the NHS out of its long term misery....I put a thread on one of the forums about petrolprices.com. If you run a private car you can search your postcode for the best prices. It only amounts to a few pounds per fill up but I do it on general principle.

The mountain bike hanger made me grin. I'm still enthusiastic but as soon as the weather becomes punishing, I feel my bike could become just as useful.

I'll check out petrolprices.com, thanks. Have you heard of pipeline? Hmmm, new to this as it tries to get off the ground but they have many supporters to date. I'm not convinced it's not a data scam but the idea is good.

    Enjoy the sunshine!

Ford Focus ST vs. Vauxhall Astra VXR

The two motoring heavy weights have now unleashed their hot hatches onto the market but which is the best?

In the Red Corner - The Focus ST with a 2.5 Litre Engine, a top speed of 152 and 0-60 in 6.5 Seconds.

In the Blue Corner - The Vauxhall Astra VXR with 2.0 Litre Engine, a top speed of 152 and 0-62 in a blistering 6.2 Seconds.

Let me know what you guys think and if you know of a better hot hatch on the market let us know below.

Razz I know a car which is a Renault Clio sport Clio 182 cup with 5-speed manual and Inline 2.0-litre 4-cylinder, 16-valve, petrol and

    182 BHP 0-62mph in 7.1

I agree that the Audi and Vw are overpriced, and would no doubt incur some pretty hefty running costs. The Golf GTI is probably not quite in the same league, from a performance perspective either. What about cars like the Leon Cupra R. That delivers 225hp from the ubiquitous 1.8T unit and comes in a bit cheaper too?

Smile You are right about this statement but the Volkswagen Fox is just about £1000 + over £5000 but the equipment levels are dull with alloys, aircon is on some models,cd/radio,PAS.

But my personal favourite VW is the Phaeton which is a sporty car with great equipment levels and speedy! BUT a bit expensive!

Moving on to the Audi, they are a bit over - priced.

I like the TT Coupe V6 which hits the the £20k zone.
