mine was about 40 yards away with a 4 power scope (im cheap like that)
I made a dot on a cardboard with a sharpie bout the size of a pellet its self. I lined up the shot. and thwack. The sound of hitting the wood behind the cardboard getting hit. I went up and saw that i was 1 cm away from hitting the dot! that was the most satisfying shot i ever had!
Tell me yours! -

At 30m you should be virtually going down the same hole. Not exactly maybe, but just enlarging it a bit. Shouldnt be making a second separate hole.... -

My best shot or shoot really was actually with the L81 full bore target rifle.
It was 300m (this is a 7.62 rifle by the way with parker hale diopter open sights).
I had 9 rounds, thats 2 sighters and 7 scoring shots.
The highest score possable from one shot is 5.5 being a "V-Bull" going down to 2 (outer).
My two sighters were 5 and a 4, So I converted these two shots to become my first two scoring rounds. This means that I only fire 5 more scoring shots leaving two rounds left at the end.
I then proceeded to get all 4's 5's and the odd 5.5. My total score was 33.2 out of a possable 36.7.
I am in year 10 at my school and I got the 2nd highest score, only beaten by the team captain who got 34.3, Considering that I was shooting against 6th formers a year 11 and another year 10 I was very happy with my score.
I now look forward to shooting as a part of my school team again this year.

You havent had the chance yet? Have you used the L98-A1 or the LSW yet? I havent used an LSW because I'm not trained on it but I've used the No.8 rifle's the L98-A1 and the L81's,
Yea they do kick like a mule lol, But its no worse than a 20 bore shotgun, Because I've been usuing shotguns for a long time now recoiling weapons come as a 2nd nature to me, infact it feels wierd using .22's and pcp airguns because I start to anticipate the recoil and when It's not there it feals wierd.
But I get used to it very quickley as do most people.

I find that shooting air gun pellet lids is great practice, Get a marker pen and put a dot on that, Aim for it n see how close you get. For your practice shooting always try to fire unsupported for people like me who have a bi-pod don't be tempted to use it all the time because you'll lose your skills.
I am currently using Brittish army issue webbing as a part of my hunting kit, If i put the butt of my rifle under the webbing shoulder strap its more supportive and makes prone shots easier. I also find using fingerless gloves a help and for my fore hand I put on an extra skiing glove which gives great support. But thats not as practicle for hunting.
My lates most accurate shots was 5 rounds through the opening of a coke can at 40 yards. I thought I was missing but when I went to look I saw a big old hole in the back of the can so I was a happy bunny.
Also I did a little test on myself. I get 10 targets 5 bottle caps and 5 drawings of rabbits, rats, squirrel, pidgeon, crow. And I fire one shot at each With a total timing of 1 minute, Its a challange as I only have 6 seconds to fire a shot and reload for the next. It sounds like a long time but when your actually doing it its not so easy.
