For anyone looking at getting round a blacklisting by changing the IMEI, you should know that it is illegal under the Mobile Phone Reprogramming Act. The maximum sentence is 5 years in prison!

For the person that started this thread, you should also note the offence is also caused by "Possessing, supplying or offering to supply the necessary equipment with the intent to use it for re-programming mobile phones.." - quote. That is providing software etc to do it is just as illegal.

Note this does not apply to unlocking a phone, just changing the IMEI or any other means of getting around a blacklist/bar etc.
