close cptioned DVD player

Hello, Many DVDs are only close captioned not sub-titled and I cannot find a DVD player that supports CC. Yes, my TV is set to CC and all VHS tapes that are CC play. I contacted the CC institute and they say "CC on DVDs are carried in a special data channel of the MPEG-2 video stream and are automatically sent to the TV. Some DVD players can retain the Line 21 data when creating MPEG-2 and some cannot so the captions do not pass through." They recommend no brands but did say to take a CC DVD along to the store to test brands. The sales people act as if you are nuts and say they cannot do this. Please point me in the right direction, I will be ever so gratefull. Thanks, Joycy
