I have a Mk4 Golf which has recently been through a service however I have 2 main problems with it:

    1. It’s started to self rev. The revs do not fall when you blip the accelerator but eventually fall back to normal.

    2. Every so often, even after long runs, when you try to re-start the engine, it continues to turnover, however once the accelerator is depressed fully it will jump into life. It’s had a fuel flush but seems to me a potential problem with the fuel line/mix.

Its been hooked up to the diagnostic machine and shows no fault codes - I am at a loss and I'm v. reluctant to keep taking back to the garage as I think they are just guessing now. Can anyone help?

    Thanks. Oliver.

I had a similar problem with my VW egine 'racing away' when stationary. The coolant temp senser was replaced and the fault cure.
