Hi,
I have the above camcorder. It was working fiine one minute the next it is showing no picture at all. It records sound OK. It is like the lense cap is on. It will playback sound and picture of previously recorded tapes, so the LCD screen etc is all OK.
Can I do anything with it ???
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried the Sony website. I have a TRV33E the would not display in the viewfinder or screen when recording. They are doing a free repair for this fault, Check out the digital imaging announcment in the service and support area of the site, it lists the affected cameras and gives a phone number. Hope this helps.

Quote: I have the same camera. It has done less than ten hours work, including playback, and it has developed exactly the same problem. I have playback, all the controls are working; but nothing is showing in the viewfinder when the control switch is set to camera. I am heading for the Sony site next!!!

Hi I have exactly the same problem, was working fine the next minute and then only playing back the next. It is over 3 years old and so out of warranty and I looked on the Sony website and it said that it will be £176 or something to get it fixed, I might as well get a new camera for that - not that I can afford it.
Has any one got any ideas??
Thanks in advance. I am in Manchester , does anyone know any good, cheap repair places? -

hi.naomishowman.
If you look on the sony site it says cams manufactured from 2002 so I don't think the guarantee has much bearing on this type of fault, I've got to send one back myself, I'll let you know what happens.
geoffm.
P.S. Did you phone the number they give at the bottom. -

Some range of Sony camcorders and other brand camcorders with Sony CCD may have a problem with the pickup device (CCD) because of manufacturing deffect.
Sony replaces CCDs without charge for such models even if guarantee has been ended. -

Hello Naomi,
I also have had the same problem as yourself, and so have my parents as we both have the same camera.
I was wondering how you got on with yours and did it cost much?
Would much appreciate it
Thanks
Paul.
