I am trying to decide which laptop is best to buy. I need it to be light weight and have good battery power as I travel a lot. I have been reading reviews about the new sony vaio tx which seems to tick every box for me especially as the battery lasts for up to 7 hours. Is this a good laptop for the money? -

Most of what I've seen about the TX has been positive, although as ever you pay a fair amount just for the Sony brand name.
It depends on what you need it for really. -

Seven sisters is right - there's no such thing as the perfect laptop for everything. I'd say the TXs' battery life and lightweightness are what makes it special - so ideal for someone who needs to travel a lot. -

I think it will be the one that I buy just for the portablility as you say. The screen quality is meant to be pretty good too.

Coincidentally, I just had a look at the one in the Sony Centre (altho actually looking at TVs to buy) and was impressed by the display which seemed to be sharp from every angle despite very bright lighting conditions. -

that's great especially for train journeys by the window
Is the best (cheapest!) place to buy one from sony themselves? ie the sony centre you mentioned. -

I can't remember the price instore - sorry - think it was about £1500 for the basic model. Sony Online sell it as a Christmas deal (with interest free credit, free router and 6 months BT Broadband) for £1498.99. Comet have it at £1499.99 instore but only £1318.70 (with free delivery) online. -
