I don't know what's wrong with my car

My car is an automatic 1991 Honda Civic. So a few months ago, I encountered this weird problem. Sometimes when I would go to make a turn, my car would suddenly rev up if my foot was on the gas. Later this problem started to occur while I was going straight as well. Basically what happens is, sometimes, in the lower gears when I hit the gas, it just revs the engine as if I were in neutral. One I get into my higher gears, I usually never encounter the problem. My best guess as of right now is that my timing belt needs to be replaced. Any opinions/suggestions/input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I also forgot to mention that my car sometimes idles at a high RPM randomly as well.
