I was going to buy a second hand Suzuki GS125 ESR for £1200 after passing my CBT. However I came across a almost exact copy of this bike on the Hongdou UK website. The Feiying 125 3A is about £1000 new so it is tempting to go with that but I dont know anybody who has one of these chinese bikes and I have always been suspicious of bargains!!!!! Can somebody help point me in the right direction please!!!!! What is the score with these chinese bikes!!!!!

I've been told by someone who knows to steer well clear of the chinese 'copy' bikes!!
On a related subject can anyone tell me if it's true that all 250 & 400cc bikes are imported (making it harder to get parts etc)?

    HI all,

Ok first point hongbu hmm not worth the effort, buy something jap much more reliable.

Not "all" 250 and 400s are imported, getting second hand parts isnt as hard as it used to be there a couple of people who specialise in these now.

The only problem you might find is with some main dealers they dont seem to like imports and if something goes wrong with them you might be stuck where to take it.

    Have fun

    Hi There

I have brought one of these cheap imported bikes as evryone is calling them. Its a Dajiang X-dirt 125 sport. I have had it for around a month and i am pleased with it. Its comfortable, reliable and rides well. I get around 70-80 mpg and its pretty quick for a 125. You need to be strong though as it weighs 157kg without fuel in it, you will also need to be over 5ft 8in, as its a tall bike. It cruises as 65 mph, which in the uk is faster than any road other than motorway. And as you know, if you aint got a full motorcycle licence, you can't go on the motorway.

As i said, Reliability it 10/10 (a friends got one, 57000 miles and still going**) build quality is about 6/10. Value is 10/10.

**He is 18 and travels alot, he is restricted to 125 until he is 21. He does around 1000 miles a week as he is always riding it. I went with him last weekend and i clocked up 350 miles that day.

Brand new these bikes sell for:

    X-dirt 125 std = £899*

    X-dirt 125 Max = £999*

    X-dirt 125 Sport = £1299*

*Direct from www.europainternational.co.uk They may be cheaper on ebay.

    I paid £895 for X-dirt 125 sport, 6 months old, 900 miles, 6 months tax, 2 1/2 years mot left & 3 months warrenty.

    A Bargain! Very Happy

Does anyone know anything about the

    ZHONGYU ZY125-7

Thinking of getting one, anything at all?

the Zhongyu zy125-7 is a copy of the honda cg125. Zhongyu are a chinese company who purchased the rights to build the CG125 from honda.

There are a lot of chinese companies out there building honda & yamaha copies. Parts for this bike should be easy to get hold of if it breaksdown as they use honda and yamaha parts.

Build quality of all chinese imports are not the best (6/10 on average). However, the reliability of the chinese imports are as good as honda & Yamaha.

I brought a chinese copy and i'm happy with mine.
