Getting better coverage with 3(1 Messages)

   Is it possible to switch my 3 mobile phone from 3G to 02 permanently so I can have a more reliable signal. I have an LG 8120 and if I go to Network selection I can change it manually from 3 3G to just 3 but am not sure if this switches me to 02. I do not use any of the 3G services but just want more reliability.
