I have a lot of sympathy for you and have been through exactly the same experience so I understand how miserable you must be feeling.

Can I suggest something which sounds very simple and cheap but does actually really help - an aspirin facemask. I saw this suggestion on another web forum and it seems to work better than any other product I have tried. You simply take 2-3 aspirin, crush them and mix with a little water (or perhaps a little of the current cream you might apply to your face to help to make it 'stick' a bit better). Be careful not to get it near your eyes etc - in fact I only apply it to my chin & cheeks (the areas affected). Leave it on for 30mins-1hr and rinse off. You should find it shrinks the spots you currently have, clears up breakouts much quicker and prevent new ones forming. It apparently works because one of the main ingredients of aspirin is salcyclic acid.

You can use this daily and it's effective and also very cheap. I would suggest the following routine - in the morning cleanse with a salcyclic acid cleanser (a good one is Dermalogica Anti-Bac Skin wash - about £20 but lasts a long time). Then apply a little Benzoyl Peroxide to the affected areas, wait for this to dry then apply a little moisturiser (again, a good oil free one is Dermalogica Active Moist). In the evening, simply add the aspirin mask into your routine between the cleansing & BP steps.

Everyone is different and different things work better/worse for some people but this mask has given me some hope when everything seemed to be completely ineffective. Good luck Smile

HI, i am new to this so i hope i am doing it right???
I have been suffering from acne for some time now (i am now 34). It seems to have gotten worse in the last couple of years and i am at a loss as to what to do to get rid of it.
I have tried every antibiotic under the sun oxytetracycline, minocycline, differin cream.........and all the others.
I am just so embarrassed to go anywhere or do anything because of the state of my skin. I won't leave the house without make-up on (not that i can cover it that well with make up anyway).
I will be asking my doctor for a referal to the dermatologist as they have been trying to put me off seeing one for so long. They consider my acne to be not 'severe' enough to see a dermatologist, but to me it is. It has caused me so much physical pain and heatyache. I have broken down in tears before because there just doesn't seem to be any help for me.

I am thinking of using a TCA peel on my face and have read reviews on several sites to find out the results. Generally it seems that it is veru succesful, but you get the flip side of it also that it can make it worse, but it's the same as any other treatment i guess.....works for some and not others.

I need some help........I am a single mother with limited amount of money (that means not much at all), so i can't afford to go to Cosmetic Clinics etc.......plus even alot of the 'over the counter' treatments are very expensive esspecially if they have to be used over a prolonged period of time!!!

Can anyone please give me some idea of what else i can try???

    Thank you
    Surprised)

Very Happy well hope it works, I have to say i'm really impressed with the results, my skin is defnately smoother and the scarring is less pitted and red, hey everythings cheaper in america, here in England, London things are just plain over-priced! any way just be patient and u will see results. i have a feeling that the N-lite in London is different to the one in America, which seems to have bad reviews, maybe we should compare reviews from those who had their N-Lite in England vs. America!

I got some BioOil last night, I can't wait to see the effects, I used it last night & this morning under my oil-free SPF, anything that helps my texture I'd me more than happy to spend money on, that's for the info & advice...ps I got mine at Wallgreens for less than $10.00.

Hi there, i got my N-Lite done by The Private Clinic in Harley Street, London. Check out their website www.theprivateclinic.co.uk, but N-lite is better for active acne, and it worked for me, for scarring i can only suggest having a chemical peel done and use Bio-Oil, its a brilliant product for scarring, the texture of my skin has really improved using that, i've posted more info about Bio-oil before, just go back and check out past messages on same topic area. im saving to have chemical peels done at the mo, but i am still using bio oil. hope this info helps, good luck!

Hi, I'm Lucia from Canada. My mom was in vacations in Israel 2 years ago, she went to the Dead Sea and brought me natural products for treatment of Acne. I tried to find the same products that she brought me. And this is the site where I buy Active Acne Mask.

Having read through many of the recent posts, I wanted to share my experience of N-Lite laser treatment with you all. I'm 33yrs old (female) and have suffered from mild inflammatory acne since my mid 20's. Dianette, topical antibiotics, over the counter remedies all had no real impact and so this year I decided to splash out on the 'revolutionary' N-Lite treatment. I paid £400 for 3 sessions at the Skin Health Spa in London - these were carried out a month apart and the last session was late April. The first month my skin was it's normal self, but for the past 8-10 weeks it has got progressively worse - in fact, the worst it's ever been. I've gone from having maybe one or two spots just on my chin area to having multiple inflamed breakouts all over my face and with no sign of improving so far. At this stage, I totally regret having the laser treatment and would do anything to go back to how my skin was beforehand. If I see any improvements, I will update this posting (I have heard that after 3 months it might clear up, so I am very much hoping it is a case of getting worse before it gets better.) But my advice for now would be, be very sceptical of the claims around N-Lite - I wish I had read some of these postings before I went ahead with it....

they are quite similar I suppose...all good though because makes things a bit more simple....

As for spots on the chin area, you need to cleanse everyday, twice a day. If you are like me and have oily combination skin then I would reccomend:

BOOTS BOTANICS: 'SKIN BRIGHTENING TONER AND CLEANSER' it's mostly natural and helps to reduce shine that is caused by having oily skin. I would reccomend you buy the moisturiser aswell. Trying to dry your skin out doesn't work (I have learnt the hard way - !!!

I once put clearasil on my face and left it on over night OUCH!!

    Hi,

A lot of your stories sound massively similar... I've had persistent but not cycstic acne since i was 13 and I've tried
Dianette (worked but made me fat)
Roaccutane twice (worked at the time but acne recurred)
Antibiotics (on for 2 years and calms a little but not much)
Every lotion and potion you could imagine!

Now considering n lite because frankly I'm running out of options! Also have problems with blood sugar etc which may indeed point to PCOS but cos I dont want kids for a while I'm not sure this matters.

Any thoughts on n lite/PCOS/general acne stuff to get read of hormonal (round the chin) related acne would be much appreciated!

I’ve had the Salicylic Acid Peel, Glycolic Acid Peel, Revitalize Peel, & Jessner's & they do work somewhat. I did mine when my acne was very active & I did it for acne control rather scar reduction. At that time I did not have a lot of scarring & I do believe they work better for scarring.

Depending on the peel, you will get varying results. The Revitalize & Jessner's Peel are stronger & the most effective. Your face will peel & crack for almost a whole week & it will be very uncomfortable. You skin will be fresher & more even after all the skin has sloughed off.

One thing however is that the results don't last, at least they did not for me & I've had many of these peels as you can see. Maybe I just have more resistant skin but honestly I have not had any great lasting results with anything. Everything seems to work at first & then my skin stop responding.

Good luck & I do believe the peels work for others, this is just my experience. Will definitely try the bio-oil.

    Good day!
