I am almost 25 and have suffered with acne since i was 13, i've tried all sorts of medication, antibiotics, topical gels / creams, dianette, cilest, etc....... out of these, it was the pill that worked best at keeping my spots under control, although i was never clear. Anyway, after an increase in blood pressure, my doctor took me off the combined pill, and put me on the mini-pill. after around 4 months, my skin was worse than it had ever been. i stopped taking this and went back on antibiotics, which did nothing for me. at this point, i was so depressed, i often didn't want to leave the house. my fiance then discovered N-lite, i went for a consultation at Laserase Bolton, based at Royal Bolton Hospital, and was quoted £100 per session for treatment to my cheeks, jawline, chin and upper lip, and i decided straight away to go for it, (everywhere else was so much more expensive!!!) So, 10 days ago, i had the treatment and i have noticed a definite improvement. i was told by the nurse to return after 3 - 4 weeks if i see an improvement and for a follow up treatment (if needed). i definitely think it is worth trying, if nothing else works, although i was warned that it may not work for everyone, if you feel how i felt though, you'd try absolutely anything. So hopefully, my skin will get even better over the next couple of weeks, and then i will decide if i need more, and for £100 a session - you can't beat it.....so far it's been worth every penny. -

Hi I'm 27 and in the middle of a course of Nlite....I'm interested in the theory that it could be different in the USA, I hope so because I am based in the UK and mid course so this forum has made me a little anxious. -

Hey Miss Holley --
I've been on accutane a little over 2 months & its not as bad as they tell you. The only thing I regret is not getting on it sooner, I was so afraid. You will get really tired at times & the dry lips is most severe & utterly uncomfortable (Blistex medicated & Carmex work the best). You skin will be very dry & try using either Bio Oil or Emu Oil. It will get so dry that it will be most necessary to use a good moisturizers. Both these oils are non-codemogenic (won't clog your pores). Good luck & stick with it. I have had really bad days where I wanted to stop, but if you do you have to start the process all over.

HI again, I have seen my dermatologist and he has prescirbed me Roaccutane......mmmm wasn't to sure about this to start with. I researched this in great detail, but the more serious side affects of this drug eg depression, suicidel thoughts etc seem to be very rare, so i decided to go ahead with it.
This is my first week. I have been started on 40mg per day. My lips are now starting to dry out, which I knew they would and my skin is also beginning to dry out, which is a good thing as I don't have to apply so much powder during the day to get rid of the shine
)
I will see how things go.....i will see my dermatologist again in 8 weeks.
I will keep things updated -

Hello everyone, i have also suffered from acne, I have got a lot of informations on this site http://www.jdhealthcare.com/dermatology.html which talks about acne treatment. I know that very often suffering from acne can be really very embarassing and
quite make you stressed also.
Don't worry everything will be fine!!! -

I'm in my 30s now and have suffered with mild acne since a teenager. My skin has got progressively better as I have got older and its hard to know what interventions are working, but I think the most successful things for me have been duac cream - combination of antibiotic and peroxide (prescribed), and cod liver oil capsules (apparently high levels of Vitamin A are helpful). I also think a good general vitamin is beneficial.
Also in terms of life style, yoga dramatically improved my skin. I believe it is helpful for regulating hormone levels which is why it is helpful. Also, other types of exercise and steam rooms have helped me. The pill has always made me look and feel worse.
I think diet, alcohol and smoking are also big contributors.
I'm about to try a skin peel so will let you all know how I get on. -

I am 31 and have had moderate acne since being a teenager. I have tried several things but nothing has really worked - antibiotics did work pretty well although did not clear it up completely - and my doctor would only pescribe them for about 9 months I think then I couldn't get anymore so acne came back.
The main reason I am writing is that I recently went for a consultation for the nlite laser at the Skin Health Spa in Manchester - but after having read some of these reviews I am having second thoughts about it!? I just wanted to warn anyone who books a 'free' consultation with this clinic - you have to pay a £25 booking fee that they say will be refunded after you attend your appointment - then they say they have to do a patch test as part of the consultation but they don't tell you that this will cost you £25 so in effect you forfeit your booking fee!! I know it's only £25 but I was really annoyed!! And did they really have to do a patch test when I'd not even decided if I was actually going ahead with the treatment!?
I am currently trying a herbal tablet called Lipovox which I got over the internet and I seem to be having good results initially - has anyone else tried this??
Thanks! -
