Hey i been using 'loreal paris - true match' minerals... ts so good it gives a foundation like coverage but looks and acts just liker a powder form. It is s light and instantly when applied doesnt even feel like u r wearing it my pores r always breathing when i wear this and i am really comfortable with using it. I wouldnt use anythign else, clinque i have heard is not very good its so expensive and doesnt even do what u want i to, the one i use is £15 so its not too much at all. Great buy for what u get. It really adapts t skin tone too, ive never come across make up that actually does this b4.
I too used roaccutaine etc and it has VERY bad side effects it scared me and changed me as a person i also had huge cold sores attached to both sides of my lips.. never again! Harley street in london is the best place to go for treatment it really works obagi bue peels will instantly remove scarring as it peels ur skin and itches of within days, they als use a different laser ... the n lite is like an underdog cheapy version, i am hoping to save up and pay a visit and finally get myself sorted. Good luck to u all !

Having a similar story to many of you I am interested and relieved to hear I am not the only one who still STILL suffers with this problem. I have had acne & skin issues since my teenage years, before following the usual route of antibiotics, the pill (dianette, cileste) and then finally roaccutane, I am now in my early thirties and in reality not much has changed.
I was looking into the Nlite treatment but have definitely changed my mind on that! I guess I just wanted a quick fix, but the only time my skin has ever been clear was after visiting a nutrionist/homeopath some years ago, I have just made an appointment to go back. I had to totally change my diet last time and it wasn't easy cutting out sugar/alcohol/yeast but it really did work. I am sure I will have to do the same again which is why I have been putting it off...makes it hard to do anything socially that involves food.
All the lotions and potions we buy might help a bit for what is already on the outisde but they don't stop what is happening on the inside. I am sure my skin problems are related to Leaky Gut syndrome, resulting from prolonged periods of taking antibiotics. I think this is the case for a lot of adult acne sufferes who were willing to try anything in their teens & twenties. I would not advise anyone to take antibiotics for more than a few months and unless the dosage of Roaccutane has decreased would warn against that as well as the side effects can be quite bad. I have never been tested for PCOS but might now ask for a test, usually Doctor's are very unsympathetic when it comes to skin problems which is why I turned to complementary health in the first place. One doctor recently suggesting that basically it must be my fault as poor skin is related to poor diet! I couldn't even be bothered to point out the inaccurracy of his statement or that I don't have a poor diet at all. I was also considering the Sher system but thought it was quite expensive?
In regard to make up has anyone had any success with mineral powders? I use clinique at the moment but am trying to change everything I use to be as natural as possible. So far I haven't found the mineral make-ups coverage good enough for me to feel confident using them. I am also looking for an effective water-proof foundation as want to start swimming again but not if it means my make-up sliding off!
Thanks. -

I have been having Nlite laser treatment alng side the beta peels and diamond tone. I was also given 5 other products to use 2 weeks before and there after s a daily cleansing routine. The products were from a company called guinot, they costed me £100 altogether and u dont get much in ech bottgle - toner, foam wash, MD formulation and balanacing cream. Within a few weeks i had ran out 2 of the products which happened to be the most expensive. They helped a lot and really cleaned my skin. I started the treatment 3 months ago with the beta peels and the diamond tone which i heard is the new micro dermabrasion? My skin appeared to be gettin a lot lot better but then by he time my second treatment came round my skin was starting to look like it used to, i was expericing bad outbreaks. When i went for my second lot of treatment they decided to do the NLITE. I was extremely happy to go along with this but was quite shocked when they told me it was only going to cost me £50 because to me this seemed a little cheap for something which usually costs alot more. After i had had the NLITE my skin appeared MUCH MUCH drier and itched immensely. A week later i was experiencing the worst outbreaks ever, i have had approx 4 cysts come up which have not gone down ever since. Today i went for my 3rd lot of treatment and my 2nd lot of laser and the guy doing it for me was stunned that i had seen no improvment, he suggested something more was needed and was suspicious this was more than acne. This is why i feel i could have pcos too which worries me because i am so embrassed about my skin i dont even want to leave the house now. I have huge blood blisters on my face which r painful and look horendous, My skin seems to be worsening immensly and not getting better. I wish i had never gone through with the NLITE now, i was never told it could have such negative affects.I am utterely dissapointed and wil NOT be continuing my NLITE treatment, they tried to fob with off with the idea that in order to get rid of my acne i need a hormonal chnage possibly giving birth, i was like wat the hell r u crazy???? a baby to get rid of this??? i think these clincs r just out for what they can get and personally i think its aload o rubbish. Also when i am having my peels the beautician squeezes my face so badly that i am in utter pain and loose my breathe as a result, is this normal?????? My skin really has lost that glow about it! I heard u should nver squeeze your skin because it makes it worse and isnt that the way to get scars rather than reduce them
???
Bottom Line = It dont work! -

I started NLite treatment last April and it has been a nightmare, I only had mild acne, but looked into NLITE as it promised not only clear skin, but improvement with scarring.Since Nlite I have experianced huge painful spots and so bad the area where I had the blemish would swell and would be dark red where the inflamation was .. which I never had before, it was sooo awful at one point I wasn't leaving the house as my skin was so bad I couldn't cover it up
I have gone back to the place where I had it done and they dont seem to want to take responsibily for it and had a kinda of shugged shoulders attitude so ive wasted over £600 in for the privilege
.
So my advice is to be careful and really look into it. -

I'm 26 and had 4 treatments of N-Lite at a private clinic in Uxbridge in 2005/6. They were spaced out from October, next one was in December then March and finally in June. I've had quite severe acne on my back since I was a teenager and had tried all the creams/lotions/potions you can name, tetracyclines etc which had little or no effect. I think my acne is hormonal, I tend to get flare-ups when I'm stressed etc.
I took pictures of my back before, during and after the treatments to see how well it worked and I can say for me, it has been a success. I had microdermabrasion before each treatment and it feels like a pin is being being lightly scraped over the surface of your skin and if you have any active spots, when the laser goes over them it can get quite painful! After the first treatment I had about 5 spots that were just in that 'forming' stage where they are red and painful and the next day the pain was gone and they had disappeared. Don't get me wrong, I did have the odd breakout between sessions but nowhere near as many spots as I used to get. After about 2 sessions I had about 1 spot every 6 months, after the fourth session my back has 95% been spot free for 2 years now. I'm going back in January for a 'top-up' session.
I cannot praise N-Lite enough, it helped that the woman who treated me was really nice and seemed to actually care about the treatments and not just about making money. I paid £650/£700 and that was due to going to the Body Beautiful Show (held in November annually usually at Olympia) where they had a stand and as part of a promotion were giving out 20% off vouchers.
From reading this thread, it definitely sounds like there is a difference in the N-Lite treatments in America compared to the UK.
Each time I went back for another session, the % or laser strength would be increased. It has also faded some of my old scars. I would definitely recommend it. -

Guys please try the Sher system - www.sher.co.uk - it's not holistic (which never work for me) nor is it invasive, all i know is that my friend who had severe acne for many years tried the system and 3 months later her skin had almost cleared completely - she is a different person.
Helen Sher is Canadian but I had a consultation with her in London last week seeing the results on my friend - i don't actually have acne anymore but i have the cheek scars and spots that seem to always be around and top of that i have hypersensitive skin (i get hives from certain face products, from certain foods and temperature!). I've been using Dermalogica for over 2 years and for the most part its been good (my skin hasn't reacted) but it hasn't altogether cleared it, in fact it's always been quite dehydrated. I met Helen and she demonstrated her products - there are also skin supplement pills as part of the system (if you can handle capsules - I'm forcing myself to swallow these as I hate swallowing capsules) which are getting excellent press here in London as some beauty magazine editors tried several different brands and types and hers worked best.
Her make up range is designed specifically to cover up acne without clogging your skin - i've noticed a difference in elasticity and pore size since i saw her last Monday and started using the products. You have nothing to lose - except maybe a few bucks if it doesn't work but judging from the press it's getting it must help.
I had also been having the microdermabrasion facials for some time now to help with the scars but i was still getting spots between the 3 week treatments and this has been thinning my skin and i've now got fine visible blood vessels near around my nose - yuk! I'm 34. I'm not going to the facials anymore.
I can't wait for the 3 month time frame when you notice the hugest difference from this system! Will keep you informed. Also you will need to change a few things in your diet, i've cut out wheat and dairy neither of which i can digest anyway but when i heard it could be the cause of my breakouts i decided to do a complete lifestyle change!
She delivers to all parts of the world there is a video on her website of the system.
Phewww....i'm done! Good luck. -

Thanks, I also use Panoxyl but I use 2.5% and I leave it on for 20 minutes and then wash it off as my skin reacts quite badly to its drying effect. Like you say it is possible that both your fiance and myself are just going to have to wait it out and have more treatments to see results, I just hope that I (and he) are not the few that don't see any progress, or worse.....our skin worsening!! -

Hi, i'll definitely keep you updated, it'll be 2 weeks on friday since i've had it done, and my skin seems really clear. i was told at my consulation that some people will notice results after 1 week, others might take longer and need more treatment before they see result. My fiance also had the treatment last Thursday as he had a sudden breakout a couple of weeks ago, (he too has always suffered with acne), but so far he is yet to see any results, he's still developing new spots which is getting him really down.
i've continued using panoxyl 5% in the mornings since having my treatment, which may or may not be helping me (i was using this prior to the treatment - but was still getting spots), but it soed help reduce the oilyness of my skin.
in a couple of weeks i will be making a second appointment to compare before and after pictures and decide the next step. i do have some scarring from old spots which i would like treat with maybe microdermabrasion. i'll see what the nurse recommends. -
