What is Tiptronic gearbox?

Can someone tell me in brief what a Tiptronic gearbox is? Is it good or bad?

Basicly this is a gear box that is automatic and does not have a clutch.
how ever the best bit is along side the automatic gearbox is a type of manuel gearbox. This is great for knocking it out of automatic and droping a cog should you need that extra power.
Ideal for some one with bad legs and hands. I got one as I have bad legs and hands but my partner prefers manuel.I have had no issues with it. How ever if it does go wrong it can be costley but I argue the point that any gearbox that goes can cost serious alot to get fixed.
