Dying Black - Questions

I have red hair. I've got Clairol L'Image Soft Black (880) dye.. I'm wondering if I should bleach my hair before dying it? If so, what mixture should I use?

Also, my hair is fairly short. I'm not very confident that I'll be able to do this without getting some on my skin.. I've heard mentions of vaseline? If I do get some on my skin, are there any effective home remedies to remove it?

Thanks :roll:Hi, In my opinion you should bleach it first. you might end up with black woth red tones. the color swatch you see is based on I think level 10 hair then turned black. other words pale hair dyed black

oh and sea breeze works good on getting out dye off your skin. and vaseling is good to use before dyeing also they sell stuff at beauty supply houses to take off dye also.
