The .17 is far better than a .22 The .22 has an effective range of 200 yards if your good enough. Mostly 100 yards. The .17 has an effective range of 200 + yards. and the round peters out at 500m making it a better choice for people shooting in smaller areas. The .22 however travels a lot further but isn't as effective at extra range.

The ceramit tipped ballistic rounds from a .17 are strong enough to take the head of a rabbit at 50 yards. a .22 however doesn't do that.

I didn't think the .17 would be better than a .22 but blow me down when I was talking to my gunsmith he showed me the stats and talked to me about his rifles. (he has both) and he prefers the .17 to a .22 all the time. apart from the cost of .17 rounds.

I cant get a 5.56 or 7.62 because I have to get a variation and the police wont let people get them for a certain amount of time. I would be an exception because I have training with 5.56 GP rifles (general purpose) 7.62 rifles out to a range of 1500M and Light support machine guns in 5.56.

Its our gun laws that restrict me which is bad but I don't have a reason for a 5.56 or 7.62 rifle at this time. Maybe in the future I might start Deer stalking in which case I would get a .243 or a .308

All I have to say is move to USA deadeyedick if you want real rights and if you want to shoot guns with hardly any restrictions at all go to Florida or any state that is not california,Maryland,New york,New jersey, conneticut, rhode Island, pennsylvania, illinois, ohio, michigan, washington state, washington dc,hawaii, and deleware is so-so.All the rest of the states are very gun friendly and most allow conceal carry if you get a permit for it which I hear is very simple and there are a few states that allow open carry.

I just don't feel the need to carry with me unless I was in a very dangerous area. I will be paying a visit to America in my GAP year hopefully so I'll give one of your shooting ranges a check out. As for now I still get to use assault rifles with no restrictions but this is only with my cadet force. Its good enough for me and I can still get semi-auto rifles and shotguns with 12 shot magazines but I just need a licence for them. I don't mind its just ab it annoying could do without it but hey I'm stuck with my government nothing I can do about it till I'm 18

I never got one, but TN has a fairly uncomplicated carry law. I think most people who get them, while being aware of defense, etc. just like to carry. For the record, I've never seen anyone abuse the right, and I've never seen a "shoot-out". We have a lower crime rate than say, New York, New Jersey,...and the rest of the list of states that make guns harder to come by for the "common citizen".

I will go buy lots of ammo on December 1st or of that week for sks, mosin nagant,.357 magnum revolver,Pellet gun ammo,Plastic bbs for airsoft,I will also get stripper clips, speedloaders, and ammo cans for around $100 instead of getting a shotgun or rifle for $200.And the rest of my $100 I will buy maybe a game or .22 pellet gun for around $50-100.

I wish I had money to throw around and spend on new guns and ammunition all the time. I'm going to struggle to get my new rifle for £300 that's about $450 I think

Air rifles are cool and they aren't that expensive they are a lot of fun.
