Hitachi DV P345 UK dvd player

I just found out from one of these threads that my dvd player is multi region...i was wondering if someone could tell me if the Hitachi DV P345 will also play australian dvds? I read that it does play region 1..Also does anyone know if i need a compatible tv? or something...

Sorry dont know much about dvd and tv coding stuff...
