I have bought one of these I am an experienced target shooter I shoot .22 rimfire target rifles and 7.62 target rifles. I am going to my first time at bisley in the summer holidays and am looking forward to it. Could any one with experience with the biathalon trainer give me some help on why I am getting 4 inch groups at 15m!!? -

I have not shot one of these but my friend, who attends the Scouts Group, says that these rifles are not exactly what you would call good. He labels them as a 'cheap and cheerful plinker' and should not be taken seriously as a target rifle. At a recent Scout shooting competetion, he noticed that the other Scout groups were using real target air rifles and, predictably, his group did not score highly in the competition. -

I know what you mean i can see the crease line where they put the two bits of pastic together.
do you know any target air rifles that are any good? i would get a 22. rimfire for personal use but its just to much hassle. i dont want to spend alot of money but about £200 should do the job maybe second hand would be good? -

I would say something like a Weirauch or possibly a Webley would do the job, definetaly go for something at the maximum you can afford as if you want a springer, you need a good one for target use. I myslef have an Air Arms S200 which i got for £230 from the Sportsman Gun Centre.
Good luck. -

Diopter sights are available for all the s200 models, although do they count as open sights? Will have to get back to you on that!

Phone up Air Arms, they can supply you with diopters for an s200 for about £11, for other rifles, i dont know, sorry. Try finding advertisements in magazines for one off parts, or even try going to a gun smith, a bit much for dioptres, so you could look for a rifle with ones already fitted. Sorry for the lack of help this time. -

The front sight is a little ring covered by a hood, the target goes inside the ring. -

good thats the type of fore sight i wanted and the rear sight is a little hole. the only problem im going to have is that my current S200 is a dedicated hunting rifle. so it would be to much hasle as far as i am concered to take all my camo off and scope to then attach the sights and then have to take it all off and put it all back together again! so i will think and have a look for a second hand air arms in .177 and then get the diopter sights for it. safe shooting deadeyedick
