i have a GE washer dryer combo.i've had it about 2 years now.the dryer has started making a thumping noise like there were a pair of sneakers in it.when i move the tumbler by hand i can barely hear it.also i can wobble the tumbler up and down.does that mean the bearing bad?

It could be a bearing, but experience tells me it is either a twisted belt, or a pully that has a "chunk" out of it, these parts are generally inexpensive and quick to install so a service call wouldn't cost much.
