    Hi
My g/f had an R reg Fiat Punto. Having problems she took it to a local garage who told her it needed a cam belt and that the job was beyond their capabilities but they'd get someone else to do it.
When she got the car back, she found it had the same symptoms as before so she took it back. They said that it now needed a "cam kit" and that would be an extra £250 please.
Six weeks later she chased it up and got the car back 2 days later.
3 weeks ago the clutch died and she sold the car to a mechanic (unrelated to the garage) and told him the history. He investigated and said that the "cam kit" hadn't been fitted (she'd done less tha 100 miles in it since the job was supposed to have been done). He also said that if someone was incabable of replacing a cam belt, they couldn't do the cam kit either because the cam belt has to be removed to do the job.
My question is: Is it possible to replace a "cam kit" on an R reg Fiat punto without removing the cam belt?
    Thanks for your help.
    Martin
