I bought my Corsa T Reg 1L last September. After a couple of months I took it on the motorway for the first time, within 5-10mins my engine management light had come on, I started to panic not knowing what this lgiht meant. When I got home I switched off the ignition and waiting 5mins and turned it over again, the car started and the light switched off. It was fine. Then over the next 4 or 6 weeks the light would randomly flash whilst driving at speeds between 15-30 miles. Then a matter of days after the last time it happened the light came on and didn't dissapear and my car started to jerk forward and rev highly, I believe this is called misfiring? I took it to a garage and they did a diagnostic test on it and told me it needed a new Speed Idle Valve, I ask them to order the part so they could repair it, and they never got back to me. 2 months later I finally decided to take it to another garage, and they did the same diagnostic check, and told me it wasn't the Speed Idle Valve. They told me the actuator wasn't working and the was no continunity between pins A26 and T1. They traced and repair the problem and my car ran fine after.

Then 4 weeks later, took it on the motorway for the first time, light back on until I turned the ignition off and back on again. I was back to square one again. After the light flashed 2 or 3 times later in the next week it returned permanatly and I had the same symptions.

I have rang the garage and it is back in for them to look at again on Tuesday. Very frustarting!

Has anyone else experienced exactly the same problem and resolved it, surely if the problem is the same as before and the garage take the same steps to repair it, the problem wiil arise again once i drive it over a certain speed. Can anyone help me?

    Thank you.

I have had similar problems recently with my T regd 1999 1L Vauxhall Corsa Envoy. Over the past month or so i have noticed the electronics light coming on intermittently when driving, it appears to come on when i am cruising with my foot off the accelerator (down hill or appraoching traffic lights). Over the past couple of weeks the engine has been extremely hesitant when starting up. The engine sounds as though it is about to pack in for a couple of minutes, when i try to rev the accelarator there is an extreme lack of power, but then suddenly kicks in and works fine. The power also seems to decrease when turning right, especially going around roundabouts. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? When the engine light appears whilst driving there appears to be no lack of power, the lack of power only seems to occur for a couple of minutes after starting the car and when turning right.

Also, have any other owners of the same model experienced clutch cable problems? I have had 3 clutch cables snap on me within 1 year and have recently had a new clutch pedal fitted.

    Thanks.

Hi I'm having very similar problems now with my 1998 Corsa Breeze 12v, I just had my M.O.T done yesterday, it passed but I did get an advisory sheet with it inwhich I need to get the cash n book it in the garage, when ever I am on the dual's going about 50-60 mph my EMS light comes on plus my Corsa is slow at pulling away from starting off or traffic lights in 1st gear gets all shakey but then after 10mph goes fine again, the guy at my local garage said it sounds like the accelerator sensor, apparently they cost around £200 though so theres more saving I need to do, my guess would be thats maybe what your Corsa's might need aswell, hope that helps

    hello,MikeeP84

I have had a corsa 1L for about a year now and thats all there has been is problems! if the garage really knew what they were doing then they would check the 'EGR valve' which is located on the side of the engine.
i was driving round one day when i noticed the light had come on. one of my mates that works in a garage told me it was the EGR! its not a cheap thing either! For some reason my engine burns oil and its caused the EGR valve to mess up. on the 1L its important that you keep checking the oil these engines have always been known to be unreliable! also the 1.2's have been known for the egr valve. i had a brand knew one put on my car and now the light has come on again! this is because of the burning of oil the best thing to do is take it off clean it and refill with clean water (best to take it to a garage or someone that knows about these egr valves)

then you shouldnt have problems with it for a while.

nope i have the same problem with my cAR what it is, is theres no revz keeping the car going. with out the revs then thats what causes it to pull off die and come back. i bought a corsa 1.4 16v and when i started it and kept it running it was fine then was this rev counter and the engine was give little revs without the accelerator being pressed this make the car pull of better and not have any problems with dying out the corsa lacks this and this is why it causes this.

After taking my Corsa back to the garage last month, they told me it had a faulty ECU. They cleaned up connections and the light switched off again, but it is only a short time fix. I either need a new ECU or get them to take it out and send it to these people in Plymouth who can apparently fix them. So I'm currently driving around with my Engine Managment Light flashing reguarly, just waiting for it to come on permantly!

Saving up money for a new car, had enough!

    Hi
My corsa 12v 1L randomly wont start and the engine management lights comes on. Then if you leave it for a while it starts again. Any ideas what this could be? Most of the time it starts fine

Hi mate it could be a few things with the engine managment light coming on, but with me having the same problem a while back it turned out to be my crank shaft sensor, u should take your car to your local garage and ask them to do a diagnostic check or just to have a look at it. If it is your crank shaft it cost me about £75 alltogether including labour.

Hi i have had the same problem with my 1.2 corsa, and it turned out to be the deadlocks, in the drivers door were not releasing, therefore immobilsing the engine! this cost about £90 at vauxhall!

Still having problems with mine, any chance anyone can read my post and help? The problem sounds like many on this forum, but there seems to be no simple solution. Also, is everyone talking about automatics or manuals? Does it make a difference to the solution? Just driven into work, hit slow moving traffic, so slowed to about 10 miles an hour and it briefly went into 'judder' mode. Also, I've got back my brand new problem : if I indicate right and put on the brakes, my fog lights/reverse lights on both sides come on and flash in time with the indicator. They also come on when I go into reverse. Sometimes it doesn't happen, but when it does, anyone behind me may think that I am either putting my hazard lights on or going into reverse at a junction. Last time, I was told it was a simple matter of a loose connection, but then it obviously hasn't been fixed.

I'm going back to the garage AGAIN at lunch time, will suggest the EGR or the air mass flow meter and hope I don't look too much of an idiot!
