recording dvd's

hi everyone, just bought a mico espejo 311i dvd recorder.i already had a mico sofia,i've connected them up via a scart lead and want to make dvd copies. tried it with a futurama dvd,but it came up with a message that said "copyright protected". is there any way of getting over this?also, the mico espejo plays some dvd's in black and white. i'd appreciate any advice you can give me on either of these problems. thanks, sue.
