Best Pay As You Go Provider?

I am coming to the UK indefinitely in July. It could be 6 months or it could be several years. As such, I don't want to sign up for a contract in case I don't end up needing it.

I have my own phone so all I want is a sim card. What do you guys think is the best provider for me? I don't need a phone and I'd prefer not to have any restrictions like you have to spend X amount per month.
