My Pacific DVD plays commercially produced films with no problem (except for a loud whirring noise lasting up to a couple of minutes when the disk starts).

I've just started using DVD disks to record TV programs. When loading the disks, nothing happens. If I open and close the disk tray, eventually the disk will load. But this may be after 10+ tries or sometimes as many as 20+ tries.

I've tried various types of disks from several manufacturers, but the problem remains.

Please can anyone tell me what's wrong?
