I'd love to get into airsoft, but I'm afraid of getting a gun that will break in the first day I use it. I have only $100 to spend. Is it possible to get a decent automatic gun for this price? -

Im afraid not a decent automatic assault rifle will cost you at least £150-200. But you could get a pretty good gas pistol for that price. id reccomend a pistol that uses co2 but thats my opinion. -

listen to deadeye, he knows his stuff.
you don't really need an automatic; it is less accurate, less powerfull, verry expensive, and uses up bb's like there is no tomorrow.
with that out of the way. if you want a semi-auto gun, get a CO2 pistol. CO2 is cheap and powerfull. the CO2 guns will also shoot as fast as you pull the trigger.
there is also eletric and spring powered pistols. eletric is semi-auto, but less powerfull. spring is more powerfull, but you'll ned to pull back the slide of the pistol each time to manually load the bb into the chamber each time in order order to fire.
it all depents on what compromises you are willing to make.

Hi guys, I don't own any airsoft guns, though I was thinking of getting one for indoor target shooting. I came here to read some of the comments from people I've read elsewhere and get some tips.
Anyway, about airsoft. i'm thinking about some indoor targets. What do you all think, spring, CO2, I don't need an auto. -

CO2 is much, much too powerful for any type of indoor plinking; it will crack plastic, shatter glass, and leave some of the nastiest wounds if you shoot somebody with a CO2 powered airsoft gun.
Spring is way better for indoors, but some are more powerful than others. If you are going to get a spring airsoft for use indoors, make sure that it has an fps of < 230, or else you still may damage some of your possessions if a misfire occurs. Also, with a spring airsoft gun, you need to pull the slide back on your gun every time to manually load the bb into the chamber. That can get a little annoying after a while.
This is why I think that electric is much better for indoor shooting, because it is less powerful, with the added bonus that it can do semi-auto. Plus, many of the mini-electrics have the capability of full-auto fire, although they use bb's up like there is no tomorrow. I don't think an electric anything will damage much in your home; but I still recommend extreme caution when using any type of firearm, but common sense will tell you that!
you can find a good selection of cheap electric airsoft pistols here.

Thanks for the info. I'll read some of the reviews here. I hadn't really considered an electric. Being an airgun shooter, I was leaning toward the CO2. I had intended to use a box to catch the BBs. I will consider what you've said.

If you're interested in airsoft rifles i would highly recommend the M16A4 available at DEN. They also do some really impressive custom guns -

now that the initiation process is over, welcome! i value you input, but i would rather get a panther than an M-16.
also, there is this Crosman ‘PULSE R72’ Electronic air soft rifle on sale at big five (on the 3rd page of the weekly adds) which i am more inclined to buy than an M-16. -
