Otherwise known as Beeman P3 / P1.
Which is better in terms of accuracy and power?
From what I can gather, the HW45 is about £40-£50 dearer, slightly more powerful, and without plastic unlike the HW40.
However, the HW40 has no recoil due to pneumatics, and both are considered to be extremely accurate.
So, am I right in thinking the HW45 is more powerful, and does its spring system affect accuracy (which wouldn't happen with the HW40)? -

I personally wouldn’t get ether.
The P1 is a bit more powerful (600fps in .177 or 500fps in .20), but it’s not a target gun, and not what I consider a ‘fun’ gun, because it’s a single shot. And for hunting why not just get a rifle. For accuracy a target gun would be better.
P3 would probably be more comfortable to hold; I heard the P1 is a bit top heavy and has uncomfortable grips. But you can get a Marksman 2004 for less than ½ the price. For such a large gun it’s not that powerful; 410fps and it’s a single shot too.
just my .02 cents

I won't be hunting with it; I already own a rifle. The Pistol was more for fun shooting, but even so I want one of a good quality. Target guns are out of my price-range or too high maintenance.
From what I can gather, the HW45 is considered to be one of the best air-pistols around, and both have received good reviews. I can't avoid single-shot without getting a bb shooter (less accurate) and/or CO2, which is too high in maintenance costs. I don't mind single shot.
Is the Marksman comparable for power and accuracy? -

The Marksman 2004 has the same power (410fps) as P3 and looks identical. Not sure about accuracy, but it’s probably the same, or at least close.
P1 is quite expensive (around $376 USD), so if you want accuracy I’m sure you can get a decent target gun for that price (IZH 46M)
I would personally recommend getting one of the Umarex guns; S & W 6‘, CP88 6’, Beretta. They are good quality guns and have good accuracy for plinkers, fare price too.
If you want more power (than Umarex guns) look at Benjamin EB17 or EB20, EB22 -

i used to shoot co2 guns. but they lack range and `finess` `quality` etc.
i moved over to a `45. it ia a pure pleasure to shoot. i know it cant shoot 8 pellets in quick succession, but the accuracy and quality counts. hunting with a pistol is illegal in uk. it is solid. and traditional. the recoil and weight are- not down points to the shooting experience. its a safe nice bit of kit. what ever target you hit `will know about it`. single shot saves money, by not shooting too much lead all over the place. instead you`ll take more time and care in placing the shot. ok. its a little big. but there is a huge spring in the housing.
i`ve never sht or seen a `40 pca. so cant comment. if you like the recoil i`d go for the `45. if your going for a less power, fun gun, that doesnt weigh a ton, go for the `40

i have hw40 and you can not fault it, it is more accurate than a rifle on the 10m range and the german engineering is top quality the only thing that i would recomend is when you buy it buy a quality hawk red dot sight with is because it unleashes the pistols full potenshel and use r10 pellets or geko flathead's but becarfull not to trap your fingers in the slide when you push it down to compress the air because i have had hundreds of little blood blisters because of it.
i do not own a hw45 but i have shot one one it is increderbly accurate and powerfull i shot a .22 and killed a magpie in my mates backgarden.

The 45 will be hold sensitive, meaning it needs to be held the same every time for shot-shot accuracy. The 40 on the other hand is not, being a pneumatic it has only a small amount of muzzle flip which is very managable. Both pistols can be very accurate, but the 40 will take less concentration to shoot than the 45. Personally I like the challenge of learning a springer pistols preferences and characteristics, but if it's just fun shooting it's nice to just be able to shoot and not have to concentrate on how I'm holding the pistol. The Marksman 2004 is hit and miss for QC, I was lucky and got a good one. HTH,

i have both guns and although they both have their merits the hw40 is quite lifeless and boring to shoot compared to the hw45.
