Hello ladies, We, Sterre and Marieke are two students at the Anna van Rijn college, which is located in the Netherlands. We have to do a research for our subject biology. We have chosen to do our research about the menstruation-cycle. We want to investigate if the menstruation-cycle is being influenced by different factors, for example if heavy sports training influences our cycle etc. For that reason we would like to ask you to fill in this survey. It is off course anonymous, the data will only be used for our research. Thanking you in anticipation for helping us with our research.

The survey can be found on:

Hi There. I was wondering if anyone has made an association between their bartholin gland becomming swollen or tender and products such as tampons and pads? I have had about 9 bartholin abcesses within the last 2 1/2 years. Often between abcesses I would have my gland get swollen and tender. I had discussed with my doctor how material such as rayon in tampons and pads can cause genital irritation in some users and even worse problems such as toxic shock syndrome. With this in mind I decided to try a a rubber mentrual cap and it has worked great. It needs to be changed less then tampons and therefore gives me less irritaion near my gland. I also feel great knowing it helps the environment and saves money in the long run. I definately recommend trying one. I have found a few different ones out there, but they seem more of less the same (look the same and same material). The one I tried was called 'Mooncup'. it can be bought onnline:

On their site they claim: 'The Mooncup menstrual cup contains no bleaches, deodorisers or absorbency gels. It does not interfere with your healthy vaginal environment, nor has it been associated with toxic shock syndrome.'
