"To adjust a scope for parrallex the front of the scope must be removed without removing the lens.
The "Bell" may be stubborn so use a firm grip.
Once off, place it on a level surface and look through it at the range you need, if the scope was set for 50 yards or greater and you wish to set it for ten yards for target shooting or 35 yards for hunting do the following."

I have a burris 8-32 ao scope. The lowest setting for focal point is about 45yds on 32x. It is a centre fire rifle scope. could your above post work on my scope so that I could use the 32x down to 8-10yds, or am I best trying to sell it. Its brand new and never been mounted (so to speak). -

You shouldn't attempt this procedure yourself with this scope. All Burris
products have a lifetime warranty which
may become void and I am sure that you do not to want risk damaging it without at least contacting Burris first. In all probability, Burris offers this type of parallax adjustment service (Leupold does). Try emailing them about having this procedure done by experts without harming your scope. Good luck. -

As you adjust the objective for the range of your interest the target should be at its clearest at this point but minor adjustement of the focus might be necessary.
Its always best if you can have the manufacturer adjust this for you as the warrenty will not be voided.
Many would be happy to do this to maintain good customer relations, and usually for no charge! -

Thanks for your replies, I'll get back to the manufacturer to get it sorted. -

I have found this site that fully explains it in depth.

I know many of you use variable scopes. Those you mention are chinese made scopes. I believe from long experience, that you would be better going for a japanese (eg: EB Optimate) or german optic and spending the extra. Many of these can be purchased secondhand. Pecar for example have one of the finest optical systems of any scope and I bought mine secondhand 20 years ago and it is still the best of my scopes. It cost £95 when I bought it.
There is however an option none of you may have pursued - Kalinka Optics is a USA mail order firm selling Russian military optics for very low prices. I got some superb stuff off them. Link below -

I'd go for the map because it makes it easier to give hold under for 20 yards and hold over out to 60 on a .177 -
