Hi, I'm new to this website and I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice! It would be much appreciated!!

My natural hair colour is a brown colour. I've been dying it jet black for about a year and a half. I really like my hair black but I'd like to have a change. What I'd really like to do is get my hair to a lighter colour - medium brown - and then get some dark blonde put all over the top. I understand this may be difficult and that it would have to be a gradual process. Is there anything I can start doing at home? I would definitely have the blonde parts put in at a salon.

Any advice is appreciated, thankyou Very Happy

well i know your not supposed to mix dyes or anything like that. but you should use the sun-in products. just spray and go in the sun...or blowdry and your hair willl look very nice. not too light but hot.

Don't use sun-in... that stuff works best for people with naturally lighter hair, but if you have dark hair it might turn it orange instead.

I think it's ok to mix dyes (dye hair brown at home, have highlights put in at salon) as long as you wait a good couple weeks to a month in between the processes, although depending on how much lighter brown you wanna go from your current color you may want to do it all at the salon. I think you're only really supposed to try at home color if you wanna go just a few shades lighter/darker.

Either way, it couldn't hurt to go talk to a stylist and see what s/he would suggest. Good luck!
