Does that thing really work? I mean, it sounds all nice and good, but then if you think about it, alot of things out there sound nice, but arn't. So, what do you all think about it? I want to give it a try, but my biggest fear is it getting stuck in my hair, and doing more damage. Or even have to get my hair cut short cause it did some bad cutting. So is it worth the money for it? Should I even try it?

Yes it does work for all hair types including afro carribbean hair no matter how tight. There is no possible way that you can cut off anymore than between 1/4 -1/8 inch because of the way it is designed. Be sure you do not get the counterfeit one (see official website). But it leaves your hair feeling silky smooth and you will not even notice the difference in length. Better than any hairdresser that I have come across because it is not scissor happy and you get the bits that hairdressers cannot. Its even better because my hair takes a long time to grow and hairdressers had the tendency of cutting the re-growth so I was always starting at square one My advice is get it it is well worth the money. Very Happy

plus no use of damaging chemicals is promoted and if you take sections which are to big for the split ender it will stop itself as it has a safety mechanism which switches off the splitender. No possible way of you having to cut chunks out of your hair to get the thing out like some styling brushes. The more you get used to it the easier you will find it but it does take a bit of getting used to so the safety mechansim may kick in on more than one occasion on your first go. It is still advisable to get a trim once in a while as your hair may grow unevenly in places but it will not trim your hair unevenly.

I have quite uneven hair as some of it is in layers - will this definately work for me and not miss the shorter hairs?

Very Happy Hi just noticed the review on the split-ender and can confirm that this is a great product, we are an uthurised UK dsitributor of the split ender which would obviously make you think, well yes they would say it is good, but having said that we get loads of emails from happy customers who have had nightmare hair problems and tried aloads of different products to try to solve it without any joy, we also offer a money back guarantee and you can see video footage of how the split-ender works, on a final note the above reviewer is correct in mentioning cheap copies as this is a problem not only down right copies of the genuine product but rip of products like the split way which are cheap but believe me they are very poor imitations of the genuine split-ender available Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I picked up a Split-Ender last night for $20 at Walgreen's. I was skeptical about it too. So many of the "as seen on TV" items are all flash and no substance. This thing WORKS!! I haven't had my hair trimmed since early December and the ends were so split and dry. It actually sounded crunchy if I bunched it up with my hand into a ponytail and bounced the palm of my other hand against the ends. Shocked It would constantly tangle, and then I'd end up with more breaks and splits from trying to get those worked out. I'm a real procrastinator when it comes to going to a salon just to say "trim the dry ends." They're probably dying to cut my long, straight hair into something new and "stylish." LOL I need to redo the color too, but didn't want to do that until the dry, ratty ends were cut off. Anyway.....

I ran each section of hair through the maximum of three times. Wow! What a difference. The amount it cuts off is so miniscule, but the difference in how it looks and feels is huge.

The instructions say to use it every 3-6 weeks, but if your hair is especially damaged you can use it every 2 weeks. I've never used a hair straightener, but I'm guessing using this is similar to using a flat iron - take a small section of hair, clamp the device onto it, run it slowly to the ends.

You'll recoup the cost after two uses, maybe one if your hair salon prices are higher. In my little town, it runs $10-$15 a cut plus tip.

On the box it says "Requires 4 AA batteries. Battieries not included." But when I opened it up to put them in, there were four Duracells already in it.

I bought the original one. It was all the store had. The website says they have a "new and improved" version for $50, but I'm more than happy with the results I got with the original, less expensive one.
