    1. Open disk drawer
    2. Enter "81328"
    3. Press enter to select region (specific region or 9 for multizone)
    4. Close disk drawer

I have not been succesful getting this to work. I recently bought my PL-D1520 in Australia. When I push the "Display" button with tray open, it shows "AU9XS.DD.010 R4" -- perhaps this is the version of the system software? maybe this unlock sequence depends on which system is installed??? Any suggestions of what I could be doing wrong?

ok...try opening the tray then without pushing the display button , push 81328. there should be some dashes in the top left hand corner that comes up every time you push a number. Then a region sign will come up showing 4. press the enter button till it gets to 9 then close the tray. Mine used to display the same thing as yours but now its AU2.03E R9. whatever you do dont push the display button at all during this setup.
    hope this works for you.

Forget about my post i just wrote Very Happy . Didnt read your post properly.
    Try using these numbers
    3838 or
    Power On
    Open the dvd tray
Using the remote control, press and hold "return" button and press "display" button. The lower left of the TV screen will show a line of alpha & numeric letters and numbers.
Keep pressing "return" button and tap "display" button until the last digit on the right changes to "0".
Release "return" button and press "angle" button on the remote control.
If these dont work then play around with number sequences on your remote.Sorry wasnt much help.
    Good Luck.

I've tried each method mentioned above and still no luck. I've also tried several other methods I found on www.dvd365.net for other TEAC models and none of these worked. Trying other number sequences would not be practical (4-digit squence have 10,000 possibilities, 5-digit sequence has 100,000). If the mehtods have worked for other people with PLD-1520's, then I can only conclude that something is different/wrong with my player. I just bought the thing so I'll exchange it for something else. Thanks for the help anyways.

Something else I noticed... When I try holding the Return and Display keys together, I don't get the system id in the bottom-left corner. Instead I get a crossed-out-circle in the top-left corner. If I push display button by itself, I get the system id but again it is in the top-left corner of the screen, not the bottom left. One other thing I noticed is my remote control is TEAC RC-939. Perhaps there is a difference in remote controls??

Some more info... The store I bought it from (Dick Smith Electronics) contacted TEAC. They said that the codes mentioned above don't work (they tried it on other PL-D1520's they had in stock). They are not sure why it is not working, and recommend I exchange it for a different model. Oh well!

Did you end up having any luck in finding a hack? I've got the same player, also bought in Australia.
