Who is going to win Euro 2004? I would say that early indications point to France, they have a strong squad and the worlds best players. My prediction for the final is Germany and France. Thierry Henry will score the 1st goal in the first 15 minutes, Michael Ballack will score an equaliser shortly before half time Zidane will then finish for France.

    PS Come on England!!!!! Laughing

Well Lee 123 you're certainly not shy of making a bold prediction at this stage in the tournament. The Smart Money (or my money) for the qualifiers from the groups would be on:

Portugal, Spain, France, England, Italy, Sweden, Holland and Czech Republic. Though you should never write off the Germans (even though it's such fun). I think Denmark and Croatia will both be hoping to get out the groups and have a realistic chance. Greece, Switzerland and Latvia will probably get the 'Thanks for turning up award'. It's pretty impossible to pick who will win and who will be runners up in each group which makes guessing the final two a bit of a challenge but I shall take the bull by the horns and have a stab. I fancy Italy to win it, they have arguably the easiest group. I'll go for an Italy, Spain final Italy to win it 1-0 with an early goal from Christian Vieri.

Let be honest though their are about 7 teams that could win it with little to choose between them. The French are the best on paper but were quite poo at the last world cup, beaten 2-0 by Denmark who England then thrashed 3-0 in the opening half of our quarter final.

I hope England can win it, I really do and we do have a better squad than the last world cup with Gerrard and Neville, Owen and Beckham fully fit and the emergence of Lampard and Rooney. But I can see us conceding goals as we always have done against weak opposition, and in some games (remember the second half against Brazil) we really fail to create a lot. It's a tournament were pretty much any mistakes will see teams going home and it promises to be one of the best most exciting European Championships ever.
Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

There's NO WAY that Germany will get to the final. World Cup 2002 was a fluke; they're not much better than Scotland.

I fancy Portugal v. France in the final, providing they can avoid each other in the quarters.

I have to say, I'd love to see a smaller side like Croatia or Bulgaria get into the final but I bet it will be Italy, France, Spain or Germany that's in there. Everyone always says that Germany is terrible and they always do really well!

I am personally looking foward to watching Theirry Henry. Very nice in a pair of shorts.

I don't think France did look like they will win Euro 2004. They didn't create that many chances against England despite all their Possession and preddure. If the penalty (Beckham's) had gone in our had sanity prevailed and Heskey have never travelled then they wouldn't have even got a draw. The winner only came from an uncharacteristic mistake from Gerrard. Although to be fair England didn't look like european champions, although no-one has yet, but there's plenty more football to be played. Looks like I was wrong about Greese though, found out they qualified ahead of spain so they can't be all bad. I still rather England played them than Portugal or Spain in the next round though. Croatia and Switzerland din't look up to much so we could still get our revenge on the french in the final, how sweet would that be?! Laughing Very Happy Laughing Cool Laughing

Oi Oi!! 3-0, Happy Days, Rooney, Youngster, Aggressive, Isn't He Hmmmmm...Marvellous! Bring on Croatia, could be tricky but I think Ing-ER-Land will do the business. Then who to play? My guess, like everyone else’s is Greece, but Spain could finish top of their group if they beat Portugal sending them home earlier, but they're home already I hear you cry! At least it wasn't a wasted trip! Point being it could be a repeat of euro 96, England Vs Spain, what price 0-0 England penalty victors? And then on to play Germany?? Then History is re-written as Emile Ivanhoe Heskey converts the decisive 11th Penalty (anyone would have to pick David James ahead of The Hesk-meister to score from 12 yards) and it's on to the final where we play...You guessed it, No not France...the Czech Republic! Just like how Euro 96 should have been! We'll win 5-2, what a game they'll say, best ever? Obviously!

Well it's nearly here, Euro 2008, I know this thread has hardly been buzzing since the last tournament but I might have a little flutter on Italy, I think only France have held the World Cup and Euro titles at the same time.

I'm going for Holland, Portugal are good but not all round enough and Italy a bit old for my liking.
